Arbhu Enterprises is a merchant exporter. We export goods made by manufacturing partners we have worked with for years, so some documents sit with Arbhu and some sit with the factory. We would rather tell you which is which now than have you find out during a customs check. The narrative version of this is on our certifications page.
How you get the documents
We do not publish the certificates themselves on this website. This page tells you what exists. To receive an actual document you request it, we approve the request, and we email it to you: request a certificate.
Three reasons, so this does not read as evasion:
- A published certificate gets copied. These documents carry registration numbers, signatures and seals. Left downloadable, they are lifted by other sellers and used to claim credentials that are not theirs, which is a problem for our buyers before it is a problem for us.
- Most of them are order-specific. A phytosanitary certificate belongs to one shipment. A compostability certificate belongs to one material. A generic PDF on a website is very often the wrong document for what you are actually buying.
- We would rather send you a current one. Certificates expire. If you ask, you get the version that is valid on the day you ask and that matches your order, not whatever was uploaded to a web page some time ago.
We also do not print registration numbers or validity dates here, with one exception: our Importer-Exporter Code is IEC AAQCA9742C, which you can verify with the DGFT yourself before you place an order.

European Union

Issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. It is the registration that allows a business to import into and export out of India, and it is quoted on the shipping and customs paperwork raised for every order we ship. Ours is IEC AAQCA9742C, publicly verifiable with the DGFT before you place an order.

FIEO Registration-cum-Membership Certificate

Issued by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations. It records Arbhu Enterprises as a registered merchant exporter, which is exactly what we are: we export goods made by manufacturing partners rather than goods we press ourselves.

A licence from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, the regulator that governs food businesses in India. Sent on request and approval, not published here. Ask and we will email you the current licence so you can read the scope and the dates yourself.

SGS laboratory test report (2021)

In 2021 SGS tested our areca leaf tableware for arsenic and for microbiological limits, and the sample passed. We want to be precise about what this is: it is a test report on a specific sample from a specific date, not an ongoing certification, and we will not describe it as one.

ISO 9001:2015 (manufacturing facility)

Our products are made in facilities certified to ISO 9001:2015. That certificate is held in the manufacturing facility’s name, not Arbhu’s. Arbhu did hold its own ISO 9001:2015 as a merchandise exporter and it expired in June 2024, so we are not claiming it as current.

Start-up India recognition (DPIIT)

Arbhu Enterprises is recognised as a startup by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Government of India, under the Start-up India initiative.

Phytosanitary certificate
Supplied for your order
Issued per shipment by the plant quarantine authority. It verifies that a specific shipment of plants, plant products or other regulated items has been inspected and found free from pests and diseases that could harm the receiving country. Areca and sal leaf shipments commonly need one.

Certificate of Origin
Supplied for your order
Issued per shipment by an Indian chamber of commerce. It states where the goods were produced and lets your customs authority decide whether the shipment qualifies for preferential treatment, such as a reduced tariff, under a trade agreement between our two countries. This is what our EU buyers use as proof of origin today.

Pre-shipment inspection certificate (PQ)

Issued per shipment by an inspection agency once the pre-shipment inspection is complete. It confirms the goods were inspected and met the agreed quality standard. Some importing countries require it as part of customs clearance.

The European standard for packaging recoverable through composting. Where your market or your buyer requires it, we provide the manufacturer’s test certificate for the specific material you are ordering. Tell us the material and we will tell you what exists for it before you commit.

We have applied under the EU Deforestation Regulation and the Single-Use Plastics and Extended Producer Responsibility schemes, and we provide the status and paperwork offline on request. We are not claiming completed registration.

REX (Registered Exporter System)
Supplied for your order
The EU system that lets a registered exporter self-certify the origin of its goods. We put REX registration in place for confirmed orders that require it. Until it is in place, proof of origin is supplied as a Certificate of Origin issued by an Indian chamber of commerce, which is what our EU buyers use today and what customs accepts. Tell us your market before you commit and we will confirm the position for your order in writing.

Three things we will not tell you
Stated here because a supplier who is vague about these is usually hiding one of them.
That the SGS report is a certification. It is a test report on one sample from one date in 2021. It is not an ongoing certification and we will not describe it as one.
That ISO 9001 is ours. Our products are made in ISO 9001:2015 certified facilities and that certificate is held in the facility’s name. Arbhu’s own certificate expired in June 2024 and we do not claim it as current.
That your shipment will clear. We can tell you what we have shipped and what cleared. We cannot promise how your customs authority will treat your consignment, and any supplier who does is selling you a risk they cannot cover.
